Most conversations about junior practitioners happen without them in the room. Seniors speculating. Companies predicting. Everyone talking about the future of the profession, except the people actually living it.
'Juniors speak up' is a panel of product and digital practitioners, 1 to 4 years into their careers, answering the questions the industry has not quite answered yet.
What does your day-to-day actually look like right now? What are you learning from AI? What has AI stopped you from learning? What are you worried about that nobody's asking you?
We'll be hearing honest answers from people doing the work right now.
Speakers:
Rebecca Hurst — Business Analyst at Today. Her path into tech wasn't a straight line. She started in interior design, discovered the power of technology through a health crisis, and taught herself the fundamentals before joining Today as an intern. As someone with hidden disabilities, Rebecca is passionate about accessibility and inclusive design, with a particular interest in accessible healthcare.
Dotti Li — UX/UI and Communication Designer. She brings together user-centred thinking and visual craft to create digital products that are intuitive, thoughtful and engaging. Her experience spans EdTech and SaaS, from interactive learning experiences for children to complex B2B/B2C platforms. She is particularly interested in how AI is changing the way designers explore ideas and approach the design process.
Ashi Kaur — Service Designer based in Melbourne. With a background spanning computer science, facility management, and a Master of Design Innovation and Technology from RMIT, she understands both the user's experience and the infrastructure behind it, thinking about services from a single friction point to the whole system.
Isobelle McCall — Designer at Pidgeon Ward. She has a keen interest in physical form, exploring this through her ceramics practice and 3D visualisation. Since graduating from Bachelor of Design at University of Melbourne, her work spans across website, identity and 3D design.
On the night, there'll be a chance to connect with peers at the same stage and meet more senior practitioners in the community, whether you're looking for mentorship, a fresh perspective, or just a good conversation.
