What we're looking for

First and foremost, we're looking for you. Don't doubt yourself, and go for it.

This Pecha Kucha-style breakout session is tailored specifically for junior designers who are not only ready to challenge the norms but also share their perspectives with the design industry. This session is your chance to reflect, challenge your own boundaries, and explore the vast landscape of design.

Join us in shaping the dialogue around the pivotal role junior designers play in our industry. We look forward to your proposals and to the vibrant discussions that will undoubtedly emerge from this gathering of creative minds.

Here's what we'd love you to explore:

  • Creative confidence: How can junior designers build confidence in their creativity and learn to advocate for their ideas within established teams?
  • Cross-disciplinary learning: In what ways might engaging with other disciplines (e.g., tech, business, AI) enhance a junior designer's problem-solving skills and creativity?
  • Mentorship and leadership: What strategies can junior designers employ to seek out and benefit from mentorship, and how can they start cultivating leadership skills early in their careers?
  • Design impact on society: How can junior designers ensure their work is not only innovative but also socially responsible? What are the ethics in design they must consider?
  • Tools and techniques for innovation: With the rise of AI and automation, what tools should junior designers master to stay relevant and creative?
  • Adapting to market changes: As markets evolve and industries shift away from traditional roles, how can junior designers adapt to remain competitive and visible?
  • Personal branding in design: How can junior designers effectively communicate their unique value and craft a compelling personal brand?

These provocations are designed to spark thoughtful discussion and encourage you to explore key aspects of your career and the broader impact of your work, suitable for the dynamic and concise format of Pecha Kucha.

Selection process & timeline

There will be 6 presentations selected.

Our panellists will be looking for alignment to our themes and what we’re looking for outlined above, as well as how compelling your idea is—your idea doesn’t need to be perfect or ‘finished’, but you’ll need to have thought about it enough to be an engaging pitch.

We’ll work with you to get your idea and presentation to a level of perfection should you be successfully selected.

We’ll delete all submissions after the selection process concludes to ensure that your idea stays your own.

As is the nature of Pecha Kucha's, you'll have roughly 7 minutes to present 20 slides.

Due to the volume of submissions we’ll receive, we are unable to offer extensions and you will be unable to share your idea with us.

We're unable to cover flights and accommodation for the selected presenters so please be mindful of this before you submit. We can extend our negotiated discount at Sofitel for you.
