Using Service Design to optimise your Work System

Katherine Farrell introduces a systems thinking approach to improving team workflows. Participants explore the Work System Method to assess tools, processes, and collaboration, gaining strategies for optimizing how work is scoped, structured, and delivered across complex service environments.

For a design team, optimising how they scope and commit to work and use tools is non-linear, and has multiple entry points.

A work system contains human participants and/or machines perform work (processes and activities) using information, technology, and other resources to produce products/services for internal or external customers.

The work system method is a way of thinking about systems in organizations.

The work system method helps people understand, communicate about, improve the way things are done and enable organisation-wide change.
