Mindy Nam is a Korean American UX designer based in Melbourne, currently working at the City of Melbourne. Before entering tech, she spent over six years as a professional hair colorist, known for her muted metallic tones and for teaching across North America and Australia.
In 2023, she made a quiet but bold shift—changing careers in a new country with no network, just curiosity and persistence. A longtime gamer and observer, she was drawn to UX for its mix of psychology, systems thinking, and design.
Though introverted by nature, Mindy has found her place in Melbourne’s design scene. She now helps behind the scenes at The Outlook and co-organises UXCamp NAARM and Ladies that UX Melbourne—focused on making space for other quiet designers to be heard.
